The Souls was founded in 2008 by brothers Jani & Toni Orpana and Antti Takalo. Kouvola based trio recorded their debut album The Grand Confusion in Finnvox studios (engineered by Janne Äyräväinen, produced by Pekka Laine) and played their album release gig in March 4th 2009 Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki supporting Danko Jones.
Over the years The Souls opened shows for many international artists: Monster Magnet, Wilko Johnson, Eagles Of Death Metal, Juliette Lewis, Jim Jones Revue.. The band also toured in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Latvia and Estonia by themselves and with various acts.
Gigs were electric and full of energy but unfortunately constant touring took its toll and in 2012 A.Takalo left the band in order to concentrate on his solo career. Orpana-brothers put things on hold for a while ’til ex-Peer Gunt bassist Tsöötz Kettula joined The Souls in 2013 and the band started rehearsing for the new album Superheroes which was released in 2016.
