BIO:
In 2012 Jani Orpana met UK-born bassist Kirkland Way in a bar on one rainy Saturday night. Two got talking ’bout a new band and they scheduled jam session on following Monday. Orpana had an album worth of new material – which they started putting together.
As the session progressed the talk turned on drummers. Soon after Orpana remembered an old friend whom he had met on a different occasion: Norwegian drummer and antagonist Gulli Ö. He was available and really eager to step on board. After couple of rehearsing sessions three started recording the debut album in Orpana’s recording studio Orpanage Sound Studios. Sessions also featured Timmy Heikkilä (harmonica on “Waitress In The Sky”), Toni Orpana (drums/keys on “Live With A Beast”), Antti Takalo (keys on “Junk 5”).
After finishing the recordings drummer Ö allegedly had a mental breakdown and got himself committed to Asylum, a private psych ward in Oslo, Norway. No one has heard him ever since. Depressed by the break-up – Kirkland moved back to UK and started a flourishing
Fish&Chips -joint near his hometown Stoke-On-Trent. Later he studied and graduated from law school and is working as a part-time prosecutor in the UK.
Orpana put on “Comanche MARK II” line-up to do a few live shows in Finland. Even though gigs were well-recieved, the line-up’s internal chemistry beside from music wasn’t just there. The Comanche ceased to exist in 2015.
